30 August 2017

Tonight, he slept all night again and was dry….in fact every night since we’ve had him other than that first night, have been the same.

The boy is settling in. It is obvious by now that he is teething and wants to chew anything, including daddy! He loves a tug of war with my jeans trouser leg, so this requires firm redirection onto his chew toys. He brought a funky chicken toy and a furry ‘gonk’ both of which he loves playing with. But not as much as my trouser legs and slippers…..hmmm.

He also discovered our patio door, that goes from the lounge to the patio. We never use it and the patio door hasn’t been open in a couple of years. However Finlay immediately recognises it as a “way in” and scrapes at the door to get in from the patio. It doesn’t work, but he keeps trying.

It is also clear he is a feisty puppy, the fence we erected is in two halves, a metal ‘chicken wire’ and wooden post section and a plastic fence with metal spikes for support. Having patrolled up and down it for a couple of days, Finlay picks the weak spot….the plastic fence and manages to tug it loose and get under it. No problem it is only into the rest of the our own garden. We wrongly assumed we could get away without ground spikes to fasten the bottom of the fence down, after all he is only 11 weeks old, how clever will he be. Well that taught us, bottom now securely fastened and he hasn’t escaped since.
